Climate-proof Queensland strawberries

The Queensland Government’s strawberry breeding program is developing heat-tolerant strawberry varieties that will be adapted to a warmer climate. These plants have been selected for their high performance in locations with higher temperatures.

Irrigators of the Queensland Murray–Darling Basin are working to expand into high-value horticulture, driven by the need to use water resources for the highest ag value. By diversifying, irrigators can produce more with less, reduce their irrigation allocation and increase returns.
